2011 SEASON (JUNIOR): Made all 54 starts at shortstop, running his career streak to 109 straight...Career-best .979 fielding percentage with only five errors in 242 chances...For the third straight year, did not commit more than one error in a single game...Leader of a school-record setting defense for the second straight year that fielded at a .968 clip...Hit .267 with two triples and 18 RBIs...Tied a school record with 10 sacrifice bunts and became NDSU's all-time career leader May 15 against IPFW...Also became NDSU's all-time defensive assists leader...Had a nine-game hitting streak in early April...Nine multi-hit games including a 4-for-5 outing against South Dakota State in the final game of the year...Named to the Summit League all-tournament team after hitting 5-for-11 (.455) in three games and going errorless in 13 chances...2010 SEASON (SOPHOMORE): Made all 52 starts at shortstop...Third on the team with a .302 batting average, 29 runs scored and 27 RBIs, and finished second in at-bats (172), hits (52) and sacrifice bunts (8)...Had six straight multi-hit games during an 11-game hitting streak in May that raised his average from .242 to .316...Went 4-for-7 with four RBIs in a doubleheader sweep of Southern Utah and went 8-for-13 in a four-game set against Oakland...Hit .409 against left-handed pitching...Hit .359 with runners in scoring position...Drove in 14 runs in 18 opportunities with runners on third and less than two out (.788)...Ranked 18th toughest to strikeout in NCAA Division I with 19.1 official at-bats per strikeout...Four of his nine K's came in the first six games of the year...Set an NDSU single-season record with 157 assists while anchoring a defense that fielded at a school-record .961 clip...One of three team captains during the season...Named to the Summit League Winter/Spring All-Academic Team...2009 SEASON (FRESHMAN): Made 42 of 44 starts at shortstop as a walk-on freshman...Fifth on the team with a .301 batting average...Turned in a steady .960 fielding percentage with only nine errors in 225 chances...Batting average was as high as .345 after a six-game span in March when he went 12-for-25 with three-hit games against UMBC, New Jersey Tech and St. Thomas (Fla.)...Led the team with five sacrifice bunts and two sac flies...Hit .327 in two-out situations and .326 with runners in scoring position...Eleven multi-hit games...Season-high four RBIs and three runs scored in the first game of the IPFW doubleheader on the final day of the season...Named to the Summit League Winter/Spring All-Academic Team...HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2008 from St. Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights, Minn...Three-year starting pitcher and shortstop under coach Tony Cicalello...Three-time all-conference pick...Lions All-Star game participant...Played in the Twin Cities East-West Showdown at Midway Stadium...Also lettered in nordic skiing and cross country...PERSONAL: Son of Jim Casper of Circle Pines, Minn., and Kathy Casper of Mendota Heights, Minn...Has a younger brother, Lewie, and a younger sister, Maggie...His grandfather, Bob Johnson, played baseball at the University of Minnesota...Majoring in sport and recreation leadership with a minor in public relations and advertising...Member of the Sport and Recreation Leadership Association...Hit .296 in 41 games last summer for the Geneva Red Wings and was a New York Collegiate Baseball League all-star.
