2011 SEASON: One of four players to start in all 57 games ... Hit .250 with two home runs and 17 RBI ... Added five doubles and a triple ... Scored 23 runs with six stolen bases, three sacrifice flys and six sacrifice hits ... Fielded .984, making only five errors in 320 fielding chances ... 2010 SEASON (NEBRASKA): Made two starts and 22 appearances during sophomore year ... Finished the year with two hits in 18 at bats as a pinch-hitter ... Also added one run scored and finished with a career-high two walks ... Defensively, made only three appearances in the field, including her lone position start at third base against Virginia Tech (2-28-10) and was error-free in two chances.
2009 SEASON (NEBRASKA): Appeared in 33 games and earned 15 starts including 12 over the final 15 games (11 at third base, one as DP) ... Finished freshman season with a .196 average, but four of her 10 hits went for extra-bases ... Had five RBI, three doubles, one home run and 10 runs scored ... Posted a .943 fielding percentage, but was perfect in 44 chances during the Big 12 season ...In Big 12 debut, picked up her first career multi-hit game with a 2-for-3 effort that included a double and scoring the game-winning run against a ranked Texas ...Hit first collegiate home run vs. Iowa State -- a three-run shot ... During Big 12 play, Gay picked up five of her 10 hits on the season, two of her three doubles, her only home run and walk, and three of her five RBI ... In the postseason, Gay pinch hit and drove in the Huskers' lone run in an NCAA Tournament loss at No. 18 Tennessee ... The RBI highlighted her success against ranked teams, hitting .313 (5-16) with a pair of doubles, four runs scored and an RBI against top-25 opponents ... Also perfect defensively in 25 chances against ranked foes.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2008 graduate of Beatrice High School ... First-team infielder on the Lincoln Journal Star's Super-State team and on the Omaha World-Herald's All-Nebraska team ... As a senior, Gay batted .495 with 16 doubles, two home runs and 30 RBIs ... Set Beatrice records for average, hits and doubles and ranked second in Class B in hits and doubles, fifth in average and sixth in RBIs ... Helped lead Beatrice to a runner-up finish at the state tournament ... In her junior season, Gay was a second-team Super-State selection while batting .444 ... Standout on the tennis court, as she went 19-1 with her lone loss coming in the state finals of the Class B No. 1 doubles tournament ... Beatrice's No. 1 singles player as a freshman, sophomore and junior ... Went 24-5 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the state tournament as a junior following a 30-7 mark with a fourth-place state finish as a sophomore ... Also advanced to the second round of the Class B state tournament as a freshman.
