2016-17 SEASON (Freshman): Wrestled at 125 and 133 pounds, placing fourth at three open tournaments -- North Country Open (1-29-17), Finn Grinaker Open/Gold Division (11-19-16) and Bison Open (11-12-16) ... Compiled a 7-8 record including 0-1 in duals with one tech fall at Bison Open.

2015-16 SEASON (Redshirt): Wrestled unattached at 125 pounds, placing in three of four Open tournaments during first half of season ... Went 8-10 with one fall ... Won two of three matches to place third in the MSU Moorhead Dragon Open / Red Division (12-5-15) ... Took four of six matches to place fourth at the Grand View Open (11-7-15) ... Sixth place in the Finn Grinaker Open / Gold Division (11-21-15).

HIGH SCHOOL: Three-time Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 4 qualifier for Hill-McCloy high school including third place showing at 119 pounds in 2015 … Finished senior season with 54-1 record and 178-26 mark in career … Placed fourth at 112 pounds in the MHSAA Division 3 bracket and completed season with 51-6 record … Runner-up at 103 pounds in the MHSAA Division 4 tournament to finish season 46-6 record … Three-time conference and regional champion.

PERSONAL: Son of Roderick and Susan Payne … Has three brothers, RJ, Bradley and Ryan, and three sisters, Ashley, Bridget and Kenzie … College major is animal science.
