Bison Distance Runners Perform Well at Iowa State Classic

AMES, Iowa – A trio of North Dakota State distance runners recorded personal-best times and climbed the school's all-time charts to headline the action for the Bison women's track & field team at the Iowa State Classic on Friday.
Junior Taylor Janssen (Moorhead, Minn.) finished the 3,000m in 9:48.75, ranking her sixth in school history. Sophomore Brittany Brownotter (Bismarck, N.D.) stands at No. 8 on the NDSU all-time list after running 9:50.75 in the same event on Friday.
Freshman Emma Kusch Dahle (Winnipeg, Manitoba) clocked 17:20.42 in the 5,000m, ranking her seventh in NDSU history in the event after just her fourth collegiate track meet.
Junior Morgan Milbrath led a group of Bison women in the 200m dash, taking 18th place with a time of 25.14. Sophomore Alexis Woods (25.20) and senior Melissa Kitching (25.35) both ran personal-bests in the 200m.
Running professionally for Brooks, former NDSU All-American Maddie Van Beek posted a career-best time of 9:16.97 in the 3,000m to place second, trimming more than seven seconds off her previous top time.
The Bison women will continue competition at the Iowa State Classic on Saturday, as well as hosting the Thundering Herd Classic in Fargo.
