SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A pair of Bison women's throwers and North Dakota natives earned their first trips to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday.

Freshman
Akealy Moton (West Fargo, N.D.) advanced to the NCAA Championships in the javelin, throwing a personal-best 165-10 (50.56m) to finish sixth at the West Preliminary Rounds. NDSU junior
Bailey Retzlaff (Carrington, N.D.) threw 204-11 (62.47m) in the hammer throw – the second-best mark of her career – to finish sixth and advance.

The top 12 places advance to the national meet in Austin, Texas, on June 5-8.

Moton entered the meet ranked 24th in the West in the javelin, but threw a personal best by nearly four and a half feet on her final throw. She will also attempt to qualify in the shot put on Saturday evening.

Hannah Frost (200-3 / 61.05m) placed 15th and junior
Amy Herrington (196-11 / 60.02m) took 17th in the hammer throw – the highest career finishes for both at the West Prelims.

Sophomore
Kari Wolfe finished 17th in the javelin, throwing 154-10 (47.20m) – an improvement of 20 places over last season at the NCAA West Prelims.

Bison junior
Tasha Willing recorded two personal-best marks in the hammer throw, with her new PR of 192-10 (58.78m) ranking ninth all-time at NDSU. She placed 26th in the meet, giving the Bison women four in the top 30 of the hammer throw.

Senior
Amanda Levin went 19-08.75 (6.01m) in the long jump to finish in 20th place. She has already secured a spot at the NCAA Championships in the heptathlon.
