Dez Cardenas doubled home
Molly Gates after Gates led off the inning with a double to center.
However, Utah State would respond with six runs in the top of the second after a bases clearing double and a two-run home run to highlight the inning for the Aggies.
NDSU would respond with two runs in the bottom of the second on an
Emilee Buringa RBI groundout and a Gates sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 6-3. Gates would then add another sacrifice fly in the sixth but the Bison would be unable to get closer.
