NDSU Falls to Oregon State 3-1

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – North Dakota State softball fell to RV Oregon State 3-1 on Sunday to close out the Amy S. Harrison Classic.
 
A pitching duel between the Bison (12-7) and Oregon State (17-3) saw NDSU held to just one hit in the game, while the Beavers were limited to four total hits.
 
The Bison would strike first as Emilee Buringa reached on a hit by pitch to lead off the first. Buringa then stole second to get into scoring position before Cameryn Maykut singled up the middle to bring Buringa around.
 
Oregon State responded immediately in the top of the second with a two-out RBI double followed by a two-RBI single to take a 3-1 lead.
 
Following the first inning run for the Bison, Oregon State pitcher Tarni Stepto retired the final 20 NDSU batters in order with nine strikeouts.
 
Paige Vargas picked up the loss, falling to 6-2 on the year. Following the second inning, Vargas allowed just one hit the rest of the way, finishing with five strikeouts.
 
North Dakota State will now set its focus on the Oregon/Oregon State Invitational with six game in Eugene and Corvallis from March 11-13.
