North Carolina Bound to Open the Year
For the first time in the program's 49-year history, the Bison are opening up the season in the state of North Carolina, staying for 10 days and 12 games overall. It's the 21st state, plus Mexico, that NDSU has played in to begin the year.

Heading into The Marucci Classic, the Bison have played 36 games in North Carolina, with NDSU holding a 25-11 record overall, including a 15-10 record in the Division I era.
The Series (Elon)
This week's games with the Phoenix will be the third and fourth all-time meetings between NDSU and Elon. The teams met on March 15, 2005 in NDSU's first season in Division I, with the teams splitting a doubleheader at Elon. The Bison fell in game one, 3-1, before winning the second game 5-0.
The Series (NC State)
The Bison have also faced NC State just two times in program history, with the games coming in the 2010 and 2011 seasons. NDSU fell to the Wolfpack 6-2 at the USF La Quinta Inn and Suites Tournament in Tampa, Fla. on February 19, 2010. NC State then won 10-2 at the Georgia Softball Classic in Athens, Ga. on February 18, 2011.
The Series (Campbell)
NDSU will take on Campbell for just the second time in program history. Campbell won the only meeting in extra innings, defeating the Bison 7-3 in eight innings at the Stanford Classic in Palo Alto, Calif. on March 8, 2008.
The Series (UConn)
The Bison will face UConn for the first time on the softball diamond.
Rudd On Career Best Run
Senior Reanna Rudd has started off the season hot at the plate with three multi-hit games, as well as a multi-RBI game. She hit her 10th career home run at East Carolina and also drove in the winning run in a 3-2 win over DePaul.
