2010 SEASON (JUNIOR): Had a 3-1 record, one save and a 6.52 ERA in 29 innings over 15 appearances...One of NDSU's top relievers...Struck out three batters in two scoreless innings for a save in a 6-3 win at Missouri State on the second weekend of play...Fanned a season-high four batters in 3 1/3 shutout innings to beat North Dakota in his longest stint of the year...Got his second win four days later at Western Illinois and also was the winner against Mayville State...Only starting assignment was the final game of the year at Oral Roberts, where he struck out three in three innings of one-run ball in a no-decision...JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played the 2008 and 2009 seasons at Miles Community College in Miles City, Mont...Made 11 starts in 14 appearances his sophomore year with a 7-1 record and 1.23 ERA...Struck out 62 batters in 73 innings as MCC went 39-18-1 overall...As a freshman, pitched two complete games but made his other 10 appearances out of the bullpen...Went 2-4 with one save...Had a 1.68 ERA and 33 strikeouts in 33 1/3 innings...Team finished 40-13 overall and won the NJCAA Region 9 championship...HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2007 from Butte High School...All-state first team for the Butte American Legion in 2008...Played tight end for the Butte High football team and was a guard on the state runner-up basketball team...PERSONAL: Son of Chummer Mattila of Helena, Mont., and Becky Mattila of Butte, Mont...Has a younger brother, Jordan...Majoring in sport and recreation leadership.
