2012 SEASON (JUNIOR): All-Summit League first team starting pitcher...Went 7-4 with a 2.61 ERA and broke a 43-year-old school record with 92 strikeouts...Also set an NDSU record with 110 1/3 innings pitched and tied the records of 15 starts and three shutouts...Got through seven innings in 12 of his 15 starts and pitched four complete games...Earned back-to-back Summit League co-Pitcher of the Week awards after shutouts at Minnesota and North Dakota in March...Struck out a career-high 11 batters in the 1-0 win at UND...Took a streak of 24 1/3 innings without an extra-base hit into the UND game and a 24 1/3 scoreless innings streak into the Omaha game...His third Pitcher of the Week award came in May after a 2-0 shutout of Southern Utah with eight strikeouts and no walks...Named to the Summit League Winter/Spring All-Academic Team as a Distinguished Scholar and to the Summit League Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence...2011 SEASON (SOPHOMORE): Eased back into the Bison rotation in April and went 3-2 with a 3.60 ERA in nine games including five starts...Struck out 17 and walked nine in 35 innings...First day back was April 9 at Southern Utah where he threw a perfect ninth in a lopsided win...Worked relief and picked up midweek starts against Mayville State and North Dakota before joining the weekend rotation the final two weekends of league play...Tossed six shutout innings with three K's for a win over IPFW, and followed with a seven-inning complete game victory over Western Illinois allowing only three hits while throwing season-high 94 pitches...Named to the Summit League Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence...2010 SEASON (REDSHIRT): Sat out the entire season in the Bison program with an arm injury...2009 SEASON (FRESHMAN): All-Summit League second team starting pitcher...Led the Bison in wins (4-3), ERA (3.49), strikeouts (54), innings pitched (59 1/3) and complete games (4) as the team's No. 3 weekend starter...Opponents hit just .275, second best on the team behind closer Anthony Kliniske...Struck out seven against Murray State and Pittsburgh in his first two starts of the year...Fanned seven and allowed only two hits in a 1-0 win at South Dakota State...Summit League Pitcher of the Week after a season-high eight strikeouts in a shutout of Western Illinois...Both were seven-inning complete games...Allowed only one base on balls in his first 24 2/3 innings...Set an NDSU record and ranked 39th in the nation in fewest walks per nine innings (1.52)...Ranked second in the Summit League stats with a 1.89 ERA in six games...Named to the Summit League Winter/Spring All-Academic Team...HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2008 from Chaska High School with an in-home education program...Three-year all-conference pitcher and catcher under coach Troy Stein...All-state selection his senior year when he fanned 71 batters in 65 innings with a 1.29 ERA...As a junior, fanned 34 batters with only seven walks in 43 innings with a 1.3 ERA...Kept up the strikeout totals in the summer as a four-year starter for the Chaska American Legion under coach Scott Gazvoda...Had 105 strikeouts and only 16 walks the final two seasons...Averaged more than 13 strikeouts per walk in 2008...Two-year starting quarterback for the Chaska High School...Passed for 1,592 yards and 11 touchdowns and rushed for 679 yards and eight touchdowns in an all-conference senior year...PERSONAL: Son of Ronald and Elisa Straka of Chaska, Minn...Has two sisters, Danielle and Allison...Father played football and mother was a swimmer at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota...Majoring in exercise science with a minor in psychology...Northwoods League All-Star in 2011 and Alaska Baseball League All-Star in 2012...Made 13 of his 14 appearances out of the bullpen for the Kenai Peninsula Oilers last summer...Went 2-0 with a 2.78 ERA, 27 strikeouts and three walks in 22 2/3 innings...President of the NDSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee...Serves on the NDSU President's Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs and the Presidents' Panel, a committee of presidents from NDSU's major student organizations...Plans to attend graduate school for physical therapy.
