2011 SEASON (JUNIOR): Played in 51 games including 50 starts in left field...Hit .279 with seven doubles, two homers and 24 RBIs...Tied a school record with 10 sacrifice bunts and was second on the team with 20 walks...Team was 12-8 with him batting cleanup...Went on an eight-game hitting streak over parts of March and April...Had 13 multi-hit games...Hit 3-for-7 with a season-high four RBIs in 15-inning win at South Dakota State...Named to the Summit League Winter/Spring All-Academic Team...JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played the 2009 and 2010 seasons at Iowa Central Community College...Named to the All-Region XI second team as a sophomore...Led the team with a .988 fielding percentage at first base and was second in hitting with a .387 average over 65 games for the Tritons, who went 50-17 and placed fourth at the NJCAA Division II World Series...Hit 17 doubles and drove in 54 runs...Hit .312 as a freshman with eight doubles and 13 RBIs...HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated in 2008 from Irondale High School in New Brighton, Minn...Four-year starting pitcher, first baseman and outfielder...Hit .474 during his senior year en route to all-state honors...Also a three-year starting quarterback on the football field and two-year starting point guard for the basketball team...PERSONAL: Son of John and Barbara Colwell of Shoreview, Minn...Has two brothers, Joe and Tim, and a sister, Sarah...Tim is a sophomore on the Bison baseball team...Joe played baseball at St. Thomas (Minn.) and their father played baseball at St. Mary's (Minn.)...Majoring in biology...Hit .303 with five doubles and 14 RBIs in 46 games with the Kelowna Falcons of the West Coast League last summer.
