Biography

2007-08 SEASON

Indoor (Junior):  Tied his career high in the pole vault with a leap of 16-0 3/4 at the Minnesota Open...Won the Bison Open at the height of 15-6...Finished second at the Summit League Championships behind teammate Matt Bishoff.

Outdoor (Junior): Tallied five first places finishes in the pole vault...Vaulted a season-best 16-6 3/4 at the Mt. SAC Relays to take first place...Tied that height at the Summit League Championships for first.

 

2006-07 SEASON

Indoor (Junior): Redshirt

Outdoor (Sophomore): Claimed the Division I Independent Championship with a vault of 15-11... Won the pole vault at four different events during the outdoor season... Cleared 16-9 at the Bison Classic to win the event, setting a personal record and placing him second overall on NDSU’s all-time list.

 

2005-06 SEASON

Indoor (Sophomore): Finished the season with a pair of wins in the pole vault, including a career high 16-0 3/4 leap at the first Dakota Duals, establishing the meet record and placing him No. 6 at the time on NDSU’s all-time indoor list... Also scored a win at the Bison Classic with a 15-9 vault.

Outdoor (Freshman): Reeled off three straight pole vault wins near the end of the season... Crossed the 16-foot barrier for the first time outdoors with a 16-0 3/4 jump at the Kip Janvrin Open on April 28... Raised the bar to 16-3 1/4 at the Ron Masanz Invite on May 6 for then the sixth best outdoor vault in school history.

 

2004-05 SEASON

Indoor (Freshman): Recorded three straight runner-up performances in the pole vault during the indoor season... Jumped a 14-11 3/4 at the Husky Open... Cleared 15-5 1/2 at the Bison Classic.

Outdoor: Redshirt.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: Outstanding pole vaulter from Hastings (Minn.) High School... Placed fifth at the 2003 state meet before taking the state title as a senior... Set a sectional record with a height of 14-7... Personal best of 15-0 established a new school record... Named team captain and MVP in 2003 and 2004... Also ran the 110-meter hurdles... Four-year letterwinner in swimming and diving, earning all-conference honors the final two.

 

PERSONAL: Son of Mary and Dennis Francis... Family includes two younger brothers, Scott and Kyle... Majoring in education with a minor in coaching.
