2009-10 SEASON

Cross Country (Junior): Competed in six races...Ran a 5K personal best of 19:19.3 at the South Dakota State Classic...Notched a 6K personal best of 23:16.2 at the Tori Neubauer Invitational...Finished 26^th at the Summit League Championships (6K) in 24:09.30.

Indoor (Junior): Won the 800 meters in three meets...Won her first Summit League title with a time of 2:14.65...Placed fourth at the Last Chance Qualifier in 2:08.11...Time ranks fourth all-time at NDSU...Ran the 1,000 meters at the Bison Classic In 2:58.90, ranking 10^th all-time...Also placed third in the mile at the league championships in 5:01.68.

Outdoor (Junior): Specialized in the 800 meters...Placed in the top six in all six regular season meets...Claimed the Summit League title in the 800 with a time of 2:11.83...Advanced to the NCAA West Preliminary Round...Placed 15^th in the opening round in 2:07.45 to advance to the quarterfinals...Took 14^th in the quarterfinals in 2:07.05, just missing out on a spot in the semifinals...Time ranks fourth all-time at NDSU...Placed fourth at the league championships in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:35.99.

2008-09 SEASON

Cross Country (Sophomore): Did not compete in any races

Indoor (Sophomore): Did not compete in any races

Outdoor (Sophomore):  Finished sixth in both the 800 (2:17.83) and the 1,500 (4:45.11) at the Summit League Championships (5/14).

2007-08 SEASON

Cross Country (Freshman): Did not compete in any races

Indoor (Freshman): Finished second in the 800 meters at the Summit League Championships (3/1)...Posted a personal best time of 2:09.02 in the 800 at Notre Dame (3/8)...Time is ranked fifth all-time in the event at NDSU.

Outdoor (Freshman): Ranked seventh all-time in the 800 meters after posting a time of 2:09.37 at the Jim Bush SoCal meet (6/7)...Finished third in the 800 and second in the 1,500 at the Summit League Championships (5/17)...Time of 4:36.45 in the 1,500 is ranked 10^th all-time at NDSU.

2006 SEASON: Redshirt. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Eight-time state champion for Watford City High School... Won four straight 800 titles for the Wolves... Had 400-meter dash wins her final two seasons after runner-up finishes in the one-lap event as a freshman and as a sophomore... Final two state championships came via the 1,600- and 3,200-meter relays as a senior... Holds career bests of 12.1 in the 100, 25.5 in the 200, 56.0 in the 400 and 2:13.46 in the 800, all of which established school records... Added a fifth school record as part of the 1,600-meter relay team... Her 2:13.46 mark set a North Dakota Class B state meet record in 2005... Also competed in volleyball and basketball. 

PERSONAL: Daughter of Gary and Betty Bruins... Family includes two brothers, David and Steven, and one sister, Elizabeth... Her father was a 1975 graduate of NDSU... Majoring in business management... Named Region 7 Senior Track Athlete of the Year and Wendy's High School Heisman finalist...Married Michael Schmaltz in the summer of 2010.
