Bison Men Have Big Day at Tennessee Relays

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The North Dakota State men's track & field team registered some significant changes to the school's all-time Top 10 lists on Friday at the Tennessee Relays.
 
Sophomore Benji Phillips claimed the Tennessee Relays javelin title, throwing 237-8 (72.45m) for the second-best mark of his career. He currently ranks 12th in the NCAA this season.
 
Brandon Lewis leapt a personal-best 24-09.25 (7.55m) in the long jump, taking runner-up honors in the meet and ranking fifth in NDSU outdoor history.
 
The NDSU men finished 2-3-4 in the shot put, and all three Bison now rank among the Top 15 in the NCAA. Alex Talley was second at 63-01.50 (19.24m), Kristoffer Thomsen took third at 62-10.75 (19.17m), and Maxwell Otterdahl was fourth at 61-09.50 (18.83m).
 
Otterdahl also ranks seventh in NDSU history for the discus after throwing 170-11 (52.10m) on Friday night.
 
Adrian Harris ran 47.39 in the 400m dash – a new personal-best that ranks him fifth in NDSU history. Darrien Lipscomb clocked 47.81 in the 400m, placing sixth in the meet and falling just outside the NDSU all-time Top 10.
 
Jacob Rodin ran an 800m lifetime-best of 1:49.74 for fifth place. He now ranks sixth on the NDSU all-time outdoor list. Josh Samyn added a significant 800m personal-best of 1:51.12.
 
Freshman Trent Davis clocked a personal-best 14.24 in the 110m hurdles to take second place. He's now seventh-fastest in NDSU history in the event. Josh Knutson (53.75) and Davis (collegiate PR 53.90) placed fourth and fifth in the 400m hurdles.
 
Alex Bartholomay ranks 10th in NDSU history for the 3000m steeplechase after running 9:09.38 at Tennessee on Friday.
 
Freshman Matt Kraft (Bismarck Legacy HS) threw a javelin personal-best of 201-0 (61.27m) in his NDSU debut.
 
Senior Tony Ukkelberg scored 7,020 points in his season-opening decathlon, placing fourth at the Tennessee Relays.
 
Alex Brosseau (wind-legal PR of 10.76) and Dante White (10.90) finished fifth and sixth in the 100m dash. Brosseau also took fifth in the 200m in 21.81.
