HIGH SCHOOL:  Three-year letterwinner at Denton High School...Holds the school record in the pole vault at 13-9, breaking the previous record set by his older brother, Cole...Won the Montana state title in the pole vault as a junior...Finished second in at the state championships as a freshman and senior...Set the district pole vault record of 13-7 in 2009, breaking a record that had been set in 1978...Has a personal record of 14-0, which he set at the Big Sky State Games in 2009...Also played basketball...Was an honorable mention all-conference selection as a senior...Academic all-state performer in both sports.

PERSONAL:  Son of Keith and Sheri Derks...Has an older brother, Cole and an older sister, Whitney...Currently undecided on a major.
