Rodin Claims 800m School Record

BROOKINGS, S.D. – North Dakota State junior Jacob Rodin broke the school record in the 800m to headline the performances of the Bison men's track & field team Saturday at SDSU's Jim Emmerich Invitational.
Rodin set a new NDSU all-time best of 1:49.00 in the 800m, winning the meet and ranking 11th in the nation this season. He broke the previous indoor school record of 1:49.90 set by Eric Stroh in 2011.
Bison sophomore Jackson Tracy took runner-up honors in the 800m, clocking 1:53.66 to cut more than one second off his previous best.
The Bison men swept the top three places in the shot put – Kristoffer Thomsen in first at 62-4 (19.00m), Trevor Otterdahl in second at 60-3 (18.37m), and Clayton Hannula in third at 56-1 (17.09m).
Cody Roder was the runner-up in the 400m dash, clocking 48.58, and Jacob Levin took third in 48.93 – the second-fastest time of his career.
Levin, Tracy, Josh Knutson and Roder won the 4x400m relay, running 3:16.45.
NDSU junior Brandon Lewis claimed the long jump title with a mark of 24-01.75 (7.36m). Bison freshman Braden Brown won the high jump, clearing 6-06.75 (2.00m).
Josh Samyn took first place in the mile, running the second-fastest time of his career at 4:13.72. Isaac Huber took third in the mile, also clocking the second-best time of his career in 4:14.83.
NDSU's Eric VanErp ran a career-best 8.35 in the 60m hurdles final for second place.
Senior Trevor Otterdahl threw 68-02.50 (20.79m) for third place in the weight throw.
NDSU freshman Mason Kindel ran a big personal-best of 8:28.86 in the 3,000m. Dante White (6.94) placed fifth in the 60m dash.
