Biography

2013 SEASON (REDSHIRT): Sat out the season as a redshirt in the Bison program.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Two-time all-state, all-region and all-conference performer for Menomonie High School and head coach Joe Labuda...Three-year letterwinner and two-year starter at tight end and outside linebacker...Set a school record with 30 sacks...Menomonie went 18-4 over his last seasons, winning conference title and reaching the state playoff semifinals in 2011...Three-year letterwinner and two-year starter in both basketball and baseball.
 
PERSONAL: Majoring in criminal justice with a minor in psychology…Son of Kelly and Sally Gates...Has two sisters, Jennifer and Christine.
