GRAND FORKS, N.D. – North Dakota State's
Trevor Otterdahl and
Brandon Lewis won event titles on the first day of the Summit League Indoor Championships, highlighting the day for the Bison men's track & field team.

Otterdahl launched a new career-best 74-05.50 (22.69m) in the weight throw to capture the first individual conference championship of his career. He moved up to sixth in the NCAA this season in the event.

Lewis defended his Summit League long jump title, winning with a mark of 24-02.25 (7.37m).

Trent Davis,
Jackson Tracy, and
Josh Samyn claimed runner-up honors in the distance medley relay for NDSU.

Bison senior
Noah Shafer took fourth in the pole vault, clearing 15-11.75 (4.87m).
Hunter Merkley finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 22-09.75 (6.95m).

The Bison got a big personal-best mark from
Kristoffer Thomsen in the weight throw, taking sixth at 59-01.50 (18.02m).

Redshirt freshman
Symon Keiser now ranks 10th in NDSU history for the 3000m after running 8:20.95 for ninth place. Keiser trimmed seven seconds off his previous best in the event.

Jacob Levin ran an indoor PR of 21.91 in the 200m dash, ranking 10th-fastest in NDSU history.

In addition to the events that were finalized on Friday, NDSU advanced a strong contingent to Saturday's finals on the track.

Josh Knutson,
Adrian Harris, and Levin.

Three Bison men qualified for the 60m hurdles final. Freshman
Logan Mathieu ran a personal-best 8.05 to be the fastest qualifier on Friday,
Trent Davis clocked 8.11, and
Eric VanErp posted a career-best of 8.24.

Jacob Rodin (1:51.94) and Freetly (1:52.72) both advanced to the 800m final.
Dante White qualified for the 60m dash final, clocking 6.87 in the prelim.

VanErp is the Summit League heptathlon leader after Day 1, holding 3,013 points through four events. Bison freshman
Zach McGlynn sits in third with 2,683 points.
