Biography
2004-05 Season (Junior): Took home gold at the Bison Open and the Howard Wood Relays in the javelin... Cracked the 200-foot barrier for the first time with a 209-7 toss at Texas-Arlington... His Howard Wood winning throw upped his career mark to 217-3, good for fourth on NDSU’s all-time list... Finished the season with a fourth-place effort at the Division I independent championships.
2003-04 Season: Redshirt.
2002-03 Season (Sophomore): North Central Conference javelin throw champion with a mark of 195-8... The first Bison javelin champ since 2000 when his brother, Brock, won it for the Herd... Appeared in only four meets but made an improvement of more than 11 feet from his first to last outing.
2001-02 Season (Freshman): Competed for the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D... Qualified for the NAIA nationals with a javelin toss of 190-6.
High School: Prepped at Dickinson (N.D.) High where he competed in the javelin throw and all of the jumping events... Three-time state champion his senior year, winning the high jump (6-4), triple jump (46-4 3/4) and javelin (212-8)... The javelin mark set a state and school record, and the triple jump mark was a school best... Also placed third in the long jump (21-8)... MVP of his basketball and track & field squads during the senior year... Played four years on the court, earning all-conference as a senior when he averaged 15 points per game... Personal:Â Son of Allen and Mary Oukrop... Family includes a younger sister, Alison, and two older brothers, Brock and Derek... Majoring in zoology.
