Indoor (Sophomore): Cleared a season-best 14-07.25 (4.45m) in the pole vault at the Jack Johnson Classic on Jan. 27 … Also cleared 14-05.25 (4.40m) on two occasions.
Outdoor (Sophomore): Cleared a season-best 13-05.25 (4.10m) in the pole vault at the Ron Masanz Classic on Apr. 28.

2016-17 SEASON
 
Indoor (Freshman): Competed in the pole vault at four indoor meets … Cleared a season-best of 14-09.00 (4.50m) in the pole vault twice – at the Dakota Classic on Dec. 2 and at the Jim Emmerich Alumni Invite on Jan. 21.
Outdoor (Freshman): Competed in the pole vault at three outdoor meets, clearing a season-best of 14-05.25 (4.40m) at the Lyle Hokanson Classic on Apr. 22.

HIGH SCHOOL: Owned a high school personal-best mark of 15-1 in the pole vault, winning Fox Valley Conference and McHenry County titles as a junior in 2015 … Cleared 15-0 indoors as a senior in 2016 at the Illinois Top Times 3A Championships, earning a runner-up finish … Took runner-up honors at the sectional meet and finished 11th at the Illinois state meet as a senior in 2016 … Won the pole vault at the 2016 Senior Spotlight All-Star Meet … Ranks second all-time at McHenry HS in the pole vault … Was also a captain on the McHenry HS football team.
 
PERSONAL: Son of Jeff and Lori Szamlewski … Has one older brother, Corey, and one older sister, Taylor … Brother, Corey, was a pole vaulter at the University of Northern Iowa … Majoring in business administration.
